I hope to learn about the different methods in education in order to get more knowledge about the different techniques that I can use in my future classes.
We are used to have interaction with our teachers and in the Silent Way more activities are done by the students and the teacher is just around waiting for the students to ask questions. We would feel weird in this environment, right?
Learning from classmates You know classmates are pretty smart and they can enrich a lesson. Sometimes we don´t see this point since we don´t like our classmates to think they did something great and that we had learnt from them. It´s not part of our culture to recognize a classmate´s intelligence; however, in some instances we can learn a lot from this special members from our class.
The creators of ALM might believe that writing is overwhelming for any language learner so that´s why they avoid introducing writing at the very beginning and devote more effort to speaking.I kind of feel like you; I need to see the written words so I can keep them in my mind. WEll it is a matter of being exposed to the ALM principle and see how well we learn another language. . Whole Language is challenging for the vast activities we, teachers, must work out. Don´t you think it would be awesome if you could develop a class using this whole language approach? Imagine how versatile you would becomo if you finally designed a class meeting these characteristics.
